The 33rd ITS World Congress has reached an important milestone, with the UK Government confirmed as its official host, alongside local host West Midlands Combined Authority through Transport for West Midlands. Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham, UK, from 25–29 October 2027, the Congress is organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe, in collaboration with the European Commission, and co-organised by ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific.
Led by the UK’s Department for Transport, the government's involvement is supported by the Department for Business and Trade and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. National Highways and the devolved transport bodies representing Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will also be key participants, alongside leading UK mayoral and local authorities, international governments, cities and industry.
The government has also committed to encouraging strong participation from its departments, local authorities and other public-sector transport organisations, strengthening engagement and collaboration with the global Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) community.

As part of this commitment, ERTICO – ITS Europe and the UK Government have agreed in principle to provide eligible UK public sector officials with complimentary access to both the Congress and the exhibition. Formal arrangements are currently being finalised.
With support from national, regional and local authorities, the Congress will provide a global platform for innovation, collaboration and knowledge exchange. Expected to welcome more than 15,000 participants, 350 exhibitors and representatives from over 100 countries, it will connect governments, cities, local authorities, transport operators, researchers and industry leaders working across policy, investment, procurement and real-world deployment.
The international exhibition will be accompanied by a high-level strategic and technical programme, networking opportunities, dedicated UK feature zones and live demonstrations. Exhibitors and partners will have opportunities to showcase innovations, engage with decision-makers, meet potential customers and build international cooperation to shape the future of transport across connected and automated mobility, public transport, data and AI, traffic management, road safety, among other key trends and topics.
